Food Chains and Food Webs Assignment
For the past 2 weeks, some P5/6 pupils have been using the app/website EPIC to read lots of e-books online. We joined Miss Kelly's virtual classroom and there we can climb the Epic Reader levels by reading, doing quizzes and learning.
Using Epic, Miss Kelly set us lots of interesting non-fiction reading about different animals, habitats and food chains! Once we had learned enough and understood the topic more, we had to re create and explain some of the food chains we liked.
We learned about how the sun's light helps green plants produce energy. This is why the plants are the producers in the chain. Next come the animals that want to eat the plants. Animals consume (eat) so they are called consumers. We learned that where you come in the chain affects what you are called. You can be a primary, secondary or even tertiary consumer. Because animals eat more than one thing, we can link them to lots of chains. Lots of chains linked together make a web!
Have a look at some of our fantastic learning from home.
